Current Research in the Yu Group
Our group is interested in Condensed Matter Physics. Some of the current projects are:
- Chalcopyrite Semiconductors:
- We continue to collaborate with Prof. In-Hwan Choi of Chung Ang University of Seoul, Korea to study the properties of chalcopyrite semiconductors: such as AgGaSe2, AgGaS2, CuGaS2 and related compounds. We have also start a theoretical investigation of their phonon, electron-phonon and transport properties.
- Electronic, Vibrational, Optical, Defect and Transport Properties of Semiconductors as Radiation Detector:
- In collaboration with Prof. Sam Mao of LBNL and Mechanical Engineering Department at Berkeley, we have started a computational program to study diverse families of semiconductors to determine their suitability as radiation detectors.
